Privacy policy
This policy explains what information Pilupu collects, why, and the choices you have. It covers this website and the Pilupu iPhone app once it is released.
1. Information we collect
On this website. We do not require an account. If you write to us through the contact form, we receive your name, email address and message. Our hosting provider keeps standard technical logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security and reliability.
In the app. When the app is available, we expect to collect:
- Account details from Sign in with Apple: a stable Apple identifier, and your name and email (which may be Apple's private relay address if you choose Hide My Email).
- Event details you enter: event type, hosts' names, date, time, venue and notes.
- Guest information you add: names, phone numbers, language and channel preferences, list membership, and replies (attendance, number of guests, food preference).
- Panchangam inputs: the date, time and place you enter, used to calculate the day's panchangam.
- Optional location: only if you choose to use your current location for city search. You can search by city name instead.
- Device information needed to send notifications to you (a push token).
2. How we use information
- To create invitations, show the panchangam for your event, and send invitations and reminders you ask us to send.
- To show you replies, headcounts and delivery status.
- To keep the service secure, prevent abuse and fix problems.
- To respond to your messages.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use guest phone numbers for advertising.
3. Guests
Hosts add their guests' details. Hosts are responsible for inviting only people who would expect to hear from them. Guests can reply without an account, can opt out of messages at any time, and can ask us to delete their information by contacting us.
4. Who we share information with
We use service providers to run Pilupu, such as cloud hosting and database services, Apple (sign-in and push notifications), and, where you choose to send through WhatsApp, the WhatsApp Business Platform operated by Meta. They process information only to provide their services. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
5. Retention and deletion
We keep your information while your account is active. In the app you can delete an event's guest data at any time and delete your account, which removes your events, guest lists, replies and message history. Some records may remain briefly in backups.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live (including the USA, Canada, India, the European Economic Area, Australia and New Zealand), you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your information, to object to or restrict certain uses, and to withdraw consent. Write to us using the contact details below and we will respond within the time the law requires.
7. Children
Pilupu is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children. Hosts may enter a child's name for events such as birthdays and naming ceremonies; that information is provided and controlled by the host.
8. Security and international transfers
We use encryption in transit, access controls and per-guest unguessable links. No system is perfectly secure. Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, with appropriate safeguards where required.
9. Panchangam guidance
Panchangam information in Pilupu is provided as guidance for planning. Customs differ between families and regions; please confirm important decisions with your priest.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy and will change the date above when we do. If changes are significant we will tell you in the app or on this site.
11. Contact
Questions or requests: [CONTACT EMAIL] or use our contact form.
